Brighton Sea Scouts

About Venturers

Venturers is the fourth section within Scouting and is suitable for boys and girls aged 14.5 to 18 years of age.

At 1st / 14th Brighton Sea Scouts, the Venturers meet at the Scout hall once a week on a Friday night between 7.00pm and 9.00pm where trained Venturer leaders run activities and challenges for a unit of about 20 boys and girls.

Venturers is a do-it-yourself mix of fun, adventure, socialising and personal challenges that brings together like minded young people from all walks of life.

Venturers have the opportunity to explore remote parts of Australia, camp above the snow line and dive on beautiful coral reefs. Imagine abseiling into a limestone cave, climbing a sheer rock face or getting behind the controls of a light plane. Whatever you do with Venturer Scouts, it's bound to be an awesome new adventure!

There are highly trained and experienced people to guide you through the different experiences and to teach you the necessary skills.

Venturers is about having fun and adventure. There are camps, parties, barbeques and trips so you can meet new people and make lifelong friends. Venturers also provides valuable "down-time" from your studies, giving you the opportunity to remain refreshed and focused on your schooling. Venturers also get the opportunity to travel overseas, to live with different communities or provide service to them.

There are leadership and management courses available that will help you in your career and personal life - when you have to take responsibility and make those important decisions. You'll learn how to conquer different challenges, deal with new situations and develop your independence. Your achievements will be recognised with the ultimate goal of earning the Kings's Scout Award and its associated Certificate II qualification, which employers throughout Australia recognise and regard very favourably.

Where to from here? All you need to do is contact us. Don't delay, you don't need any experience to become a Venturer, just the desire to have an adventure. What are you waiting for!!
